Palm Tree Lamp Reviews

When you are looking for a palm tree lamp it can help if you know how others feel about the lam you are considering. That’s why I’ve written up a comprehensive review of the three most popular palm tree lamps.

First and foremost: when it comes to palm tree lamps, taste becomes a large factor. What you will read below is just my opinion on these lamps!

Palm Tree Rattan Lamp

Buy the Palm Tree Rattan Lamp now
Features ★★★★☆  Price ★★★★☆

The first palm tree lamp in our line-up is the Palm Tree Rattan Lamp from Furniture Creations. It is made from real rattan rope to add to the tropical feel. It uses a 40-watt bulb (you will have to get that yourself) and it measures 25 1/2″ high (13 1/2″ diameter).

The shade itself is open-weave style. While this does add to the vintage feel, it does mean that the light bulb will show through. This may or may not be a problem to you. I personally do not really care about it. The main surprise from this lamp for me was the price, it looks so much more classy then you would expect for a sub $25 price tag! I can heartily recommend getting the rattan lamp, it’s hard to go wrong for the price anyway.

The second lamp in our overview also comes from Furniture Creations and takes a slightly different approach to the tropical theme: at the base of the lamp you will find three cute, little monkeys. Kids love this lamp! Of course that will not always be the deciding factor for you but there is no denying that it does add to the ‘fun-factor’ of this lamp.

The shade features a stretched animal skin pattern and you can fit a 60 Watt light bulb in it. Like the rattan lamp, it looks much more expensive than it actually is: online you will find it for under $25.

Coconut Tree Candleholders

Features ★★★☆☆  Price ★★★★★

The third item in our little review is a bit of an odd one out since this ‘lamp’ doesn’t run on electricity but rather on.. fire! That’s right, these two small palm trees are meant to hold candle lights. While they may not be strictly what you are looking for I just couldn’t leave them out. For pure atmosphere you can not really beat these adorable little candle holders. Can’t you just picture yourself, lying on a tropical beach, some palm trees nearby, a torch illuminating the surroundings.. hmm, ok, enough dreaming already! Of course these coconut candleholders are not the same thing as being on an island paradise but they do give your room (or patio!) a very nice feel. I’m sure you will get lots of compliments from friends and family. For under $15 you might as well give it a try.

I hope this review was helpful and remember, you can always just browse through all the palm tree lamps on offer!

Outdoor Palm Tree Lamps

A Tropical Patio

Buying a palm tree lamp can add a decorative touch to any landscape or decor. It can be an inexpensive way to bring a tropical feel to the atmosphere of you home. Adding an outdoor palm tree lamp to your patio or gazebo will give it character and sense of being on vacation without ever having to leave your home. Palm tree lamps come in a wide variety of styles and sizes that can fit any location and budget. When choosing your palm tree lamp for outdoors, you may want to look for attributes that fit your decor and preference. Following are a few tips for you to consider:

Cost

The price that you pay for an outdoor palm tree lamp can depend on many things. The size, amount of lights that it has on it, materials that it is made from, and where you purchase the lamp can have an overall impact on what you will pay for it. You can pick one out at a lawn and garden shop or have one made to suit you. The average price that you will pay can range from $100 to over $500.

Material

There are many different materials that you can choose from. You will want to make sure that your lamp is weatherproof for outdoors. Make sure that it has “outdoor” on the package. Glass, plastic or pvc, bronze, copper, aluminum, brass and rattan are just a few that you can pick from. Either way,
you will want to make sure that it is built durable to withstand constant weather changes.

Size

You can choose from a variety of sizes when looking for the right lamp. Lamps range from 8″ to 7′5″.
There are light covers, table lamps and floor lamps to choose from.

Number of lights

Placement of lights on the lamp may be an important factor for you. Some lamps have lights on the bottom of the trunk to illuminate the tree and give it more shading, while other trees have more lights on the leaves for overview. Some lamps have many small clear lights, while other ones have only 1-3 bigger lights.

Ratings

There are many places that you can go to for ratings on the lamp of your choice. Many websites will help you by listing customer and critic reviews. You will want to pick the lamp with the best overall rating for your price range.

Home Lighting

What To Look For In Home Lighting

When looking for home lighting, an array of tastes and ideas should hopefully come to mind; deciding among the various shapes, patterns, colors, and sizes can be a relatively daunting process. Every home is a unique place, warm to the individual that resides there.

Moreover, as the individual approaches the many styles available for home lighting, he or she may wish to consider several things first: what type of ambience is desired, what type of vibe and feeling does the buyer hope to have projected into the home, and lastly, what style best fits into the overall theme of the home? Playing creatively with a variety of tones of light can facilitate the process. Whether the request is for bathroom lighting, ceiling lighting, wall sconces, floor lamps, desk lamps, or myriad of pendant lighting, the potential buyer should soak in the ambience associated with each type of light setting, in order to identify which choice is the best.

The Lighting Balance

Mainly, the buyer needs to be sensitive to lighting balance, and often the best way to determine the right balance is by experiencing the effects and intensity of lighting settings in the store. Simply ask the salesman for a chance to experience the light in the showroom if possible—before the sale is decided on—and there is no chance of returning it. For stores with a decent enough return policy, the buyer can take the light home to find out if it creates the desired ambience and atmosphere. It is vital that every buyer understands just how important buying the right lamp actually is, so he or she should be on the lookout for lighting that improves the overall décor—not takes away from it somehow. In a warm, quiet, country-style home, he or she will probably not use lighting that is extremely cold and bright, although that setting may be more appropriate in an office.

Lamp Styles

Torchiere Lamps, table lamps, swing-arm lamps, and floor lamps are just a few of the styles that have recently become popular. The buyer should always look to the areas in the home that require more light to try to gauge its proper location. A beautiful lamp can become the focal point for the entire living room. The buyer has to make sure the lamp fits with what is already happening in the room. Specifically, decorative floor lamps and swing-arm lamps reside perfectly behind the couch, and they help to connect the lower furniture with the taller features in the room. Table lamps illuminate beautifully and create a warm, talkative environment. Once again, the buyer can find the appropriate type of lighting by simply trying different options, by experiencing the emotional feelings that often occur under various types of lighting, and then make a uniformed decision based on what is needed in the home.

What to Look for When Buying a Table Lamp

Getting a Table Lamp

Your decision is made; you want a table lamp. Now the task comes down to choosing the right one. There are a lot of things to consider, but the process can be enjoyable and the ultimate decision easier with a little forethought.
Start your quest by answering these questions:

  1. What is the function of the table lamp?
  2. Where will the lamp sit?
  3. What is the best size?
  4. What is the décor of the room?

Function

Table lamps serve many purposes, but the three most common are for task lighting, accent lighting and ambient lighting. Task lighting is for a singular purpose such as reading or doing something that needs direct light. Generally it requires a 100-watt bulb. Accent lighting calls attention to a place in the room. Ambient lighting contributes to a mood or adds additional light to a lighting plan. The last two can vary in wattage requirements, anywhere from 40 watts and up depending on the lamp and the room. A dual-purpose table lamp that fills more than one function might require a switch that accommodates a three-wattage bulb or a switch that has a dimmer.

Location

Where the table lamp sits dictates a lot. A lamp on an end table next to a couch will probably not be the same as on a nightstand. A table lamp is not only a functional device it is also a piece of furniture. It adds to or subtracts from the whole impression of the room. Try to imagine a lamp in place in the space you have chosen. Will it help or hinder the view in the room? Will it obscure or compliment other objects?

Size

Proper size depends on the purpose of the lamp and the dimensions of the room, but most critically it depends on the table or surface on which it will sit. Too big and it could overpower the table or become unstable. Too small and the lamp might look puny. Most often a lower table or surface requires a taller the lamp. Envision the two-thirds/one-third rule, which is always a pleasing combination. The exception is reading lamps. They often have longer “necks” to bring direct light to the right spot.

Décor

Look at the room itself and the style of decoration and furniture you have already chosen. You will want your table lamp to contribute to this ambiance. Fortunately today lamp styles are about as varied as can be imagined, but don’t forget the lampshade. Often shades are interchangeable, more of a mix-and-match situation. The lamp and the shade need to live in harmony while carrying out the function you intended. The trick is to find a store or website that has the variety you want while giving the advice you need—all the while helping you stay within the budget you designate.

Palm Tree Lamp

The Tropical Theme

A palm tree lamp is a wonderful addition to any tropical-themed room you are looking to spruce up. These lamps are unique and versatile, yet with so many available choices, it can be hard to determine which one is right for you. Be sure to set your budget beforehand, as these lamps vary depending on their features and the material they are made from. However, no one can resist their realistic palm tree lampshades and palm tree bases that make them the focal point of any room! Let’s take a look at the top three features to look for when choosing the very best palm tree light for your home.

Material

With the unique and inventive characteristics of palm tree lamps, there are many different materials to choose from. For a rugged, realistic look, choose lamps that have bases made from wood, such as mahogany, and have detailed curvature to resemble a palm tree stem. Other lamps incorporate resin or rattan rope.
In addition to the base of the lamp, the lampshade also has exclusive details, as this serves as the palm tree’s leaves. Choose from beautiful pieces of glass, such as with a Tiffany lamp that has different shades of green. Or, opt for a fabric lampshade that has palm tree leaves on the base of the lamp instead.

Type

The two types of palm tree lights that you have to choose from include a floor lamp and desk lamp. A floor lamp is great in rooms that need a lot of light or in corners where you do a lot of reading or writing. They provide an even light across the room and the palm tree structure is sure to stand out above everything else.
If it’s a small space you’re looking to serve, such as on a desk or next to a bed, a desk lamp will be adequate. Although these lamps provide less light, they are perfect for areas that need direct lighting. In fact, these are the most popular varieties to choose, as they are small, compact and versatile.

Accessories

In order to set each lamp apart from the next, a palm tree lamp adds a variety of accessories. For example, some include hanging monkeys or a coconut, while others incorporate animal skin patterns. The lamp may also include embellishments that are made from crystal, rattan rope or brass. For a vintage feel, look for lampshades that have an open weave and for an elegant look, choose lampshades constructed of glass.
